Fix Uptown Now (F.U.N.) is an organization focused on the future of Uptown Whittier. It seeks to bring to light issues that will have an immediate and positive impact. Although the current economy has brought challenges to all development, a concentrated and creative effort by the leaders of business, city officials, and passionate residents of Whittier, will allow for the formation of solutions.

The purpose of F.U.N. is to offer positive support for the development of an improved quality of life in our historic business district. F.U.N.’s statement of purpose and goals reads as follows: Historic Uptown Whittier is one of Whittier’s most precious resources. Uptown represents our beginnings as a city, our identity today, and our hope for the future. The 1987 Whittier earthquake dealt our community a severe setback and in many respects we are still struggling to recover. With common goals, our collective voice is imperative in creating a community focus so that we can help improve our historic business district to its former splendor. As concerned citizens of Whittier, we come forward in a clear and united voice.

“We created through the process, a political constituency for urbanism where there wasn’t one before.” – Dr. Aseem Inam Senior Project Manager, Uptown Specific Plan
